Chauvel is a plonker. This might have smouldered on in the blogosphere for a day or so, but no, he has to come along with his can of petrol and turn it into an inferno with his justification of his actions. Little wonder that Labour is doing so badly in the polls.
I have mixed feelings about this, having had too many plane trips and restaurant meals ruined by parents who regard it as their God-given right to inflict noisy out-of-control brats on fellow passengers and diners.
Nobody expects kids to be still and silent but they do have an expectation that children will be well-behaved and reasonably quiet.
Not all of us find squealing brats "cute".
