NZ voters may put up with wall to wall queers marching in prides, whores prostituting themselves in every second residence and the like, but incest?

Do you agree with this part:
He said he was "very opposed" to incest.
"I find it very distasteful I don't know why anybody would do it but it's a question of principle about whether or not people ought to interfere with actions that do no harm to third parties just because they personally wouldn't do it."
Should everything you find distasteful be illegal?
And do you disagree with this?
Dr Whyte...said he was not prepared to avoid difficult questions like that about incest as other politicians might.
"Maybe I should, but it seems to me the people who find ways around it and avoid it are being less virtuous than me... I would have to be inconsistent, I would have to be intellectually corrupt."

I'm not an ACT member, and haven't been since 2009, but if Whyte carries on like this, maybe I'll reconsider.
Nick, you can dance on the head of a pin arguing your progressive liberal's pitch for consenting adults to able to partake of any sordid fetish they might wish.
For families to live in a functional society, rightly or wrongly, perceived moral and ethical limits have evolved over many years. Probably because the repercussions to wreck families when indulging far outweigh the rights of the persons immediately involved.
I have my perceived limits. Incest, abortion, homosexuality, same sex marriage, as well as euthanasia do not fit in my view of a healthy society.
As for your man wanting to be 'more virtuous, less inconsistent, not be intellectually corrupt', well, the man wants to be a politician.
Irrespective of good intent, perception is everything in politics and I will always remain convinced incest is that step too far.
You just cherry-picked part of an article to suit your prejudice.
I think incest is revolting and disgusting but so is picking your nose and wiping your finger on a shop window afterwards. Should that be illegal?
I see you're also against homosexuality. That was illegal prior to 1986 as well and as you say, moral and ethical standards changed to allow homosexuals the privilege of not being imprisoned.
Nick, I cherry pick what I see. I saw this man supports incest. Gut feeling, like that will fly with Joe Public. Perception is everything.
As for homosexuality, I firmly believe it should still be illegal.
BTW, I see your man has flip-flopped on his statement of intent.
Having retracted, by his own words, is he now a "inconsistent, intellectually corrupt" individual? If so, I suspect he'll fit right in with the typical pollies we continually elect to the trough.
