Winston guarantees himself another term

New Zealand First will not vote for the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill

That should get him more than 5%.

Monday, July 30, 2012

That should do it...

  • A green space around the Avon River
  • The square, with more green areas
  • A retail precinct
  • A convention centre that can hold 2,000 people at once
  • Health, justice and arts precincts
  • An earthquake memorial
  • A cultural centre
  • A metro sports facility
  • An enclosed sports stadium
  • A centralised bus interchange

Yep, that could do it. The government produces a list of rebuild distractions.

One could be excused for thinking that a rebuild of the devastated city might actually include something useful like businesses. Something that would generate income, not leeches that suck the the life blood out of the local economy like the government, artists and sporty types that abound in the above list.

No wonder my birthplace is referred to as the Village of the Damned.

How to stand your ground...

I have an apology for the people of Britain. Sadly, it’s written on the end of my c**k in a braille you can only read with your tonsils,'' he wrote on Twitter

British comedian shows how to do an apology with balls.

Your move, John Boy

selling shares in state assets before the Tribunal delivered its full findings could "cause a significant disadvantage to [Maori] claimants" if their claims were subsequently found to be well-founded

Not unexpected as the partisan tribunal finds in favour of a taniwha, noting that the result is interim and a very big if. I say take it all the way through the courts and put them in their place.

Time to cut these racist separatist opportunists adrift for the sake of New Zealand. Your move, time to lance the boil John Boy.

Something that should have been done 4 years ago.

"Child's play"???

The moral fabric of society won't fly apart, in fact if anything it will be quite a boring change. We need to debate bigger picture stuff. This is child's play. Let's legalise it.

It may well be "child's play" and "quite a boring change" not worthy of debate for some, but I'd wager most parents in the country would do everything in their powers to stop their little Johnnies from catching that homosexual gene.

There must be something seriously sick in New Zealand society that men feel the need to shag other men. And in my opinion, Coutts Jr must be such a disappointment to his famous father.

"best restrained from contemplating her future life as a career carer"

Macsyna is a proven bad mum. Of the six children she has bought into this world, she appears currently responsible for none. Admittedly two were murdered. But when Child, Youth and Family took the last child into its care, it was quoted as saying the child was "malnourished" and "neglected".

Second, she is a self-confessed doper and drunk and just happened to be one during the care of both the Kahui twins and her youngest 12-month-old child. Everything about her care, according to testimony at the Kahui trial, ran counter to the most basic concept of mothering.

That included the seeming indifference to the plight of the prematurely born twins when first brought into this world at at Starship hospital. Red flags were apparent even then.

And let's never forget the pathologist report. That the children had suffered broken bones days and weeks before their fatal bashing.

Then there was her immediate post-murder reaction. The police described all involved - including herself and her half-brother - as obstructive. The impression that we received was of someone selfish and self-absorbed, satiated only by substances. I still have that impression and the whininess of this week only acts as further evidence. But mostly Macysna - the reason that you won't be getting a sorry - is that you are the embodiment of all that is wrong with our welfare indulgence. You are exactly the kind of person who shouldn't be having kids because you can't really care. The nurturing gene is absent.

We have seen. We have observed. And whether you were in that bedroom that night or not - we know that there is a stain you can't wash out no matter how many reports, how many lawyers, and how many tears you may wish to shed.

Because the truth is: if you had been a half-decent mum, the Kahui twins would be alive today.

A long but well overdue summary of facts of a 'career carer' failure that is echoed right across New Zealand.

Or,
'the embodiment of all that is wrong with our welfare indulgence'.

9-year olds to marry

From an MP...

We must regard 9 as being the appropriate age for a girl to have reached puberty and qualified to get married.

To do otherwise would be to contradict and challenge Islamic Sharia law.

Savages.

NZSO unsustainable: Why not get rid of it?

Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry Chris Finlayson says disestablishing the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is unthinkable

Indeed, why not?

I suspect Mr Cresswell of Not PC or the esteemed Mr Rudman might think otherwise, but to me, a mere Philistine in matters cultural, it would seem the right thing to do. Stop propping up the failing entity with my taxes. Along with all the other unsustainable programmes that Creative NZ funds.

The NZSO is a jewel in the cultural crown. There is no question of its survival under this Government.

But then I'd expect nothing less of a government which sprays my taxes freely to the winds on other cultural jewels such as hip-hop thugs and kapa-haka war dances.

If you hadn't guessed this National government does not have the balls to axe unsustainable programmes.

Rabid greenie: "Flog off car to pay your rates"

We make a lot of unaffordable choices

Damned right about that! Never a truer word. Ratepayers see daily the exorbitant taxes charged to fulfill the unaffordable choices of councils made under the 'power of general competence'.

Anyway, the councillor (ex greenie MP, say no more) has recently had to front nay-saying ratepayers ever mindful of rising taxes on the long term plan, obviously giving it his full attention, whilst forgetting who employs him.

Mr Ward also described the long term plan process as the "most unpleasant part of being a councillor". He described it as "four days of listening to people tell us how much they don't like us"

Upset over four days of listening? Ask yourself why you're employed Mr Councillor. Oh that's right, to wallow in the trough that is local government on the ratepayer's dime. And you wonder why councillors are not liked?

But wait, there's more.

suggested yesterday that one way for people to make paying rates more affordable was to "flog off one of the family cars", make cuts in other areas of household and personal spending, and make some lifestyle changes

Maybe Mr Councillor you might find ways to reduce council extravagances, rather than continually raising rates via your unaffordable choices.

Labour MP not getting enough friction

KiwiRail was forced to replace sub-standard brakes on all of its 500 Chinese made freight wagons before they entered service last year.

Documents obtained under the Official Information Act show initial tests found that when fully loaded to 72 tonnes gross the wagons failed to stop within the code requirement of 650 metres.

Always trying to raise the friction in her electorate, the MP for Dunners South is complaining about standard acceptance testing practice.

KiwiRail says the quickest, simplest and most cost effective solution was to replace the brake blocks with a marginally higher-friction version.

In a statement, it said KiwiRail carried out this work directly but any additional costs were borne by the manufacturer under warranty.

So the delivery acceptance test failed. Happens pretty often with any new technology from train wagons to frigates. Contracted supplier remedied at their cost. End of issue. KiwiRail staff get heaps of bonus practical on job training.

Dunedin South MP Clare Curran, who has been critical of the decision to send the wagon work offshore, says she's appalled

Opposition MP proves why she is in opposition.

Fracking NZ: "fracturing that occurs here is doubly safe"

extracting shale gas, as as is done in Britain, is different from the fracking that occurs in Taranaki. Shale gas is shallower and takes a lot more effort to fracture, therefore, if shale gas is safe, "people can be certain the fracturing that occurs here is doubly safe".

"We find we check off against the list of recommendations. We are up there delivering best practice."

Well that should upset the rabid ferals of the lunatic fringe.

Start the drills.

Key rolls over for natives

Key last night alleviated the Maori Party's greatest concern - that the Government would override any Maori interest over water with foreshore and seabed type law - by giving an assurance the Government would not legislate away their rights and interests.

Maori Party is claiming victory after last night's meeting with the Prime Minister over water rights

Unbelievable! Where's Don Brash when he's needed? Not content with delivering New Zealand beaches to the native minority, Key also promises the rivers to the racist separatists.

There is no limit to the pandering that the Nats will stoop for votes.

Lying greens

Ms Delahunty said it was concerning that the consent was granted without public notification

I've done some checking of that statement and found it to be another lie by greens to fit their propaganda.

Greymouth Petroleum is a NZ owned oil and gas company. It
holds an exploration permit in the Great South Basin. Greymouth
is currently in the planning stage for the drilling of an
exploration well in the permit. A preferred location for this well
is Stewart Island. How can this benefit the local community?
Join us to find out.

Greymouth Petroleum would like to invite Stewart Island residents to a presentation to be held at the Stewart Island Community Centre on Wednesday 11th April at 7pm. There will be
time for questions and answers following the presentation.
Refreshments will be provided.

The public of Stewart Island was notified via an ad in their local rag for a public meeting to be held on 11th April 2012. (almost bottom right corner of pdf) You'd think in a community of 400, this would be news. Apparently not, till the greenie liars recently went for a media beat up on the issue.

Once again the Green Party is proven to be stretching the truth.

New Leinster NIMBYs incensed over drill rig

More than 50 Stewart Islanders have signed a petition against the decision to allow a gas exploration well

Southland District Council granted Greymouth Petroleum consent for the exploration well on Thursday after a non-notified process, which does not require public consultation

The Luddites are stirring on Stewart Island looking to bypass normal processes. No doubt being wound up by greenie ferals.

I thoroughly agree with Drill it, Mine it, Sell it.

Maori Party renders weak version of The Boy Who Cried Wolf

the wider electorate has had enough of Maori separatism and privilege in any guise

Laws at his usual best suggesting the racist separatists have had their day in the trough.

Just as well they're not in business...

I added to a few of those dropped calls, having no hesitation to hang up when a machine tells me 'that I'm a valued customer and you're in the queue of the damned'.

I particularly like the IRD for its prompt 20 working day replies to their secure email system. Don't laugh, in the real world Vodafone has a similar response time on phones and emails.

One could be forgiven thinking that gummint departments should be run like a business.

Another referendum needed

We need a referenda on the Waitangi Tribunal. It would require three hundred thousand signatures to enact one. If that was offered to the country it would probably be filled by lunchtime in any given day.

One can only hope it comes to pass.

How's your recession going?

China's economic growth has fallen to its lowest level since the 2008 global crisis due to anemic demand for exports and government efforts to cool overheating and inflation

China's trade growth decelerated more sharply in June than expected - an indication the slow-down of the world's second-largest economy deepened despite stimulus efforts

Ready for the main event? Bursting in 3-2-1...

Better get on down to the red shed to purchase some more of Asian tat to help the tiger.

ps For Stuff subbie - From an English dictionary - Anaemic is the correct way to spell the word

Another day at the beltway trough

Mrs Turia made what may be her strongest criticism of Mr Key in their 3-year political partnership

Really? Idle points scoring and bluster. I'd lay money she and her racist separatists won't walk, having already given up on the once imminent retirement. Life is too good with the scraps being dropped occasionally in their beltway trough.

Mr Key's comments were helping fuel an "outpouring of absolute racism" by a considerable number of New Zealanders opposed to Maori claims for resources

Damned right about those claims for resources. At least we agree on one matter. Racism. Though I think somehow her view of the matter is a polar opposite to mine and I suspect most other residents of this country. One day soon New Zealand needs to have an adult discussion without the brownwash over the farce that is 'The Treaty'. And without the pandering to apartheid by our politicians like Key and Finlayson for votes.

Union Busting: More good news!

Someone clicks on a mouse in Copenhagen and working families in Timaru lose their breadwinners' job

Another Maersk consignment of the unionised for the dole queue.

Just like the long overdue ongoing union busting over at the railyards, as management attempt to remove the millstone that is KiwiRail from the country's neck.

One day New Zealand unionised might wake up and realise that unproductive 19th century work practices have no place in the 21st century.

Who gave the kids a lighter?

inmates damaged cells and lit fires

One wonders how inmates in our non-smoking prisons are able to set fires. Not to mention throwing tantys and destroying their cells.

I suppose the modern crim living in heated floor luxury must have retained some Neanderthal skills.

Did the earth move 4U?

Another quake - guesstimate about 4-5 in Wanganui area a few minutes ago.

Update: South of Turangi, 114 Km down, 5.3 - see details

Friday, July 06, 2012

Well, that didn't last long!

Manawatu Gorge closed again by slip.

Not surprised with all the rain we've had over recent days.

How to win over your loved one...

Quake: That was a good one [updated II]

Magnitude 7.0, west of Wanganui, 230 Km down

3 minutes of sustained rolling and a few minutes to die away. One of the best I've felt in Dannevegas.

Are you OK Inv2 at Keeping Stock?

Tsunami in Cook Strait / Kapiti Coast?

Ref #
3732830

[update]

Just a short sharp one in the beltway. Here it was sustained movement and noise for nearly five minutes.

I see members of the Press Gallery at their normal 'do as I say and not as I do' standards. Soper's missus - '
It knocked my telly over' - obviously been taking note of all those safety messages they ram down our throats.

That was a shaker. I made it down ten floors in around 45 seconds. First time I have felt need to evacuate my building.

And DPF felt the sudden need for late night exercise. On first read I'd thought he'd taken a dump in the building...

[update II]

A pic of the PXZ Pawanui drum at Waipawa or thereabouts. The one at Eketahuna is similar. Shows 2.5 minutes plus of full red lining movement followed by slow decay and we felt every second of it.

Who's shagging who here?

National standards data provided by schools is too "ropey" to show parents how well a school is doing in reading, writing and maths and may not be released this year

it's extremely patchy and in different formats and that will make it very difficult to interpret - but over time the Government hopes it will be more consistent because the purpose of having information is to give parents a better sense of how their school is performing

Ummm, Mr Key, you're the government of the day. Or is it the teacher unions?

If the data is 'ropey, in different formats, of patchy content", surely the government should be defining the minimum standards required, not letting union stiffs dictate the order of the day.

Indeed, one wonders who is being screwed over here.

NAIT: Another impost on your steak

Today marks the implementation of another tax. A new tax on your steak and every other piece of New Zealand beef. You see, all cattle beasts have to be apparently registered with the shiny new NAIT bureaucracy in Wellytown. Cheers National for yet another tax.

Cattle already get taxed at kill for animal health so the AHB can spread 1080 poison in your waterways. Collection regime is easy. Cattle leaves your property for final ride to works, gets head lopped off with any tags and taxed is applied. Any traceability of your piece of beef ends there.

And what will NAIT do? SFA in my books. I have to buy and retro fit an extra RFID capable ear tag at twice the price of normal tags, spend time logging my cattle into yet another database. A database with all its attendant security and privacy issues. Cattle beast still gets to take final ride, gets head lopped off and traceability on your steak ends. National's new tax is applied, presumably on top of AHB tax. Next the IRD will want data matching on beast numbers to see if my lifestyle block is more than a hobby farm.

Shiny new bureaucracy gets paid, consumer feels inner glow from greenwash getting fed bullsh*t about their steak being traceable back to my place. Yes, Mrs Jones in the UK is really going to enjoy that price increase on her New Zealand steak.

Register cattle on my lifestyle block? I'll continue grass polishing and worry about getting registered for NAIT when my cattle go to the works. I'll pay the $13 + Grab Snatch and Take 'too hard to handle to tag' when the cattle beasts go for the final ride.

Till then the beltway bureaucracy can bugger off and keep sending those nasty reminders via AHB full of legal action threats. They won't do anything for $13.
