I saw the announcement tonight, interrupting the TV show (as it should) to see a very heartfelt summary from a Police Officer. You could tell the tragedy had totally caught him on a personal level, and I think that's how it's going to be for a lot of people tonight.
I shudder to think of what the family is going through, but my prayers are for them.
As the Officer said, it's too early to say much more than a body of a child has been found. I guess we'll know more over the next few days.
Surely, surely, this does not involve foul play? Just awful, the worst outcome, yes, its just unimaginable for her family, the pain to endure. My prayers for them also, my thoughts, my tears. So sad.
Mayor Bob was reported by the Herald at around 2120 that a body had been found - it took TV 1 a full half hour before they finally put up a breaking news banner.
So sad, we can directly relate to our granddaughter, a little bundle of joy, of a similar age.
The press statement by the Police Officer probably was the most emotional thing he will ever have to do in his career. All kudos to him, he handled it extremely well in the tragic circumstances.
I guess over the next few days most parents in NZ will be thinking about this sad tragedy.
Semi-retired, enjoying the rural lifestyle, watching the grass grow and keeping a watchful eye, via my wireless connection at dialup speeds, on the world of rampant local and central government bureaucracy...
