No, I don't really think so. The third to last race Barker blew it at start in conditions they could have taken the race; however, for the most part they were beaten by a bigger wallet. In my opinion, winning the cup comes down to pure technology and money.
If you want to look at cheating go no further than the All Blacks if pushing the legal limits is cheating.
