When I read this story I hurriedly checked to make sure I didn't have a copy of the paper for 1 April.
I now understand why New Zealand universities continue to drop in the world rankings.
I am almost embarrased to admit that I went to Vic, although rather a long time ago. At least this rubbish wasn't considered to be research by academic staff then. It would, possibly, have been published as "humour" in Salient (the student newspaper) in the 60's or 70's.
