Tally Ho chaps!

Just in from Biggles:
The Red Baron has been sighted at six o'clock high and we are ready to engage in the dogfight...

Seems that WAAG has finally got its house in order and is now putting heavy pressure on council candidates for the North Shore, where the flights to the mooted second airport at Whenuapai will cross, making heaps of noise, streaming avgas exhaust fumes 24x7 across their burbs and beaches.

The WAAG Prez suggests
the majority of the people on the North Shore will be affected one way or another

Damn right they will, they are about to become the very noisy and smoggy lower part of the glideslope into Whenuapai in prevailing south-westerlies. Over there, as blogged sometime ago, the evil Red Baron, Mayor Bob has been flying his biplane re Waitakere City taking over Whenuapai as a fully commercial airport, second to the main one in that French suburb of Auckland, Mon-Gere.

This has been going on for months, with claim and counter-claim, at great expense to very concerned ratepayers on all sides. The Red Baron has declared war on on all, being hell bent on getting WCC ratepayers to stump up at great cost. The doddery old fart needs taking out at this election!

WAAG is doing a leaflet drop, aiming to sway voter opinion against commercialisation of the airport when the Air Farce finally vacates some time in the future, although WAAG thinks the future council shoud remain 'inside the tent' on any discussions with the Red Baron.

From Biggles:
Good on WAAG, do your best chaps!
Am off to have a look at the Navy not being able to get spares for some not so useful and extremely expensive helos...

PM loses her way yet again

The PM is lost. Down on the farm it is well known that Labour does not favour the rural vote and does not care what happens outside the beltway, especially where the country's engine room is.

She reluctantly agreed to open the revamped school after the principal had been emailing and faxing her since April with, as expected, minimal response.

However, she to had to ask advisers where the Bainesse School is located and where the nearest airport is. Now most people might Google Wises NZ maps and search for the rural town, finding it here in seconds.

If she had paid any attention to recent history during her current term, she would have well aware of the location of the school, because of the dire straits rural Manawatu was in the February 2004 floods. But then she could be excused, flooded paddocks and flooded rural schools do not provide votes.

Nearest airport? Just the airport for the 5th largest town in the country. If she had asked her cabinet where Bainesse was, smarmy Steve should have been able to tell her. After all his new job next year will be at his alma mater, just east of this large airport/town. Bainesse? A few Km to west of this airport, not even enough distance to get up to the high speeds she is accustomed to travelling to engagements at!

Another close airport? She should know this one well. This is the one where the whole of NZ's air strike capability now resides in mothballs. Now doubt she has stopped here many a time whilst abusing her high speed taxi Air Force One and it has broken down or the Beehive airport has been fogbound.

Air Farce?

A farmer at Great Barrier Island has successfully salvaged one very expensive sea boat lost from HMNZS Canterbury a week ago by risking life and limb to swim out through the cold surf and tie a line onto the boat, retrieving it by tractor. Doubt that he will ever get to claim salvage rights.

I would have thought that SAR could have used the loss of these boats as a very good exercise in plotting where a craft might go. Weather has been very predictable, onshore easterlies and the boat was lost between Tauranga and Auckland - simple.

Where was the Air Force? They used to have extremely good tracking aircraft that should have been able to locate this boat last week in short order. The weather has been relatively benign in the area since the storm.

A prime example of how useless our Air Force has become.

Jets sold. Yeah Right!

Mr Goff has been for a jolly to the US of A to peddle our case to the State Department and told to bugger off. Hell, they even said sorry to us!

The diplomatic word is that the issue lies internally with the States, but every one knows that the real issue is that as long as NZ does not have combat wing, these planes will never shift. The US has been paid for them and there is no interest on their part but to laugh at us.

On top of that, being an anti nuke peacemonger does not help one little bit - these are military aircraft that should be being used for what they were purchased for - combat.

We have had our bit of anti-nuke fun, the sooner we go nuclear the better. No more issues with power shortages. I look forward to the future day when the wind farms are all stopped due to no wind and and the lights go out. That day will come soon, and then there will some serious discussion on nuclear energy.
