Arse covering of the first magnitude

Over the weekend and yesterday we witnessed arse covering of the first magnitude by yet another NZ tertiary institution.  Again, after all the riots down south a week earlier.
Lincoln University has apologised for the Nazi-themed dress of first-year students celebrating Oktoberfest at a halls of residence-run party
Prof Field apologised for any offence caused by the students
All that was required was something along the lines of 'some young students had a pissup and made dickhead choices in their fancy dress'. Period.

many of the students who attended were first years and may not know have known what the "holocaust was all about"

Instead we get a full blown arse covering reacting to a few expressions of disgust.  While it was a disgusting choice of dress, students have to learn somewhere about making poor life choices.  They certainly wouldn't have got any life skills from their previous teachers in our high schools.  Halls of residence pissups will always happen and unfortunately some students will make dumb decisions.

Most of us would have been there, done that in different shades.  Even Prince Harry has been there.  A few papers sell, the sun still comes up tomorrow.

One day institutions might actually tell the story like it is, not spray weasel words covering their backsides.

Ruined our good name???

More like exposed that all is not culturally well in this modern age.
  • numerous cases of newborn babies being abandoned at birth
  • common theme amongst the cases are the disregard for whether the baby lived or not
  • newborns in plastic bags
  • In most of the cases the babies end up dying before they were found
  • blame and berating the woman for her 'stupidity' and 'ignorance
  • trying to defend the pride of their families
  • CEO of the Ministry of Health has already reaffirmed that travelling at seven months term is not a good idea
  • trying to figure out where the woman comes from, her family and any other gossip worthy details
  • Those who processed the woman's papers are pointing fingers
  • people outraged at the incident, because it gives Samoa a bad name
  • "How embarrassing!!! How could she? What was she thinking? She thought she would get away with it?"
Come back and complain when you move from the Stone Age to the 21st century.

Sanlu bankrupted

The end to an expensive exercise in free trade is formalised. NZ $165M will look good on the negative side of the books in this recession.

Or is it the end?

The Fonterra brand has taken a hit as NZ's largest company and about fifth largest dairy company in the world.

I still wonder is there more yet to be divulged. Something just does not stack up with the Fonterra story to date. I cannot believe that a company such supposed expertise and skill in their laboratories and product would have not noticed the goings on.

Someone is being very economical with the truth.

Corrections staff on the take

today's Sunday News reports Dixon lived the high life behind bars, with "unfettered" access to Class A drugs and other illegal contraband.

The newspaper also reports that Dixon had sex in prison with a female friend who posed as a registered psychologist to gain entry to his cell in 2003.

And how else would any sane person explain such unfettered access? High time Corrections was exposed to a detailed inquisition, starting with management.

Clark harbours criminal

After shoving the $14M campaign for anti-biffo with our kids down our throat for the last month, telling us it is not OK, her indoors is now harbouring a recidivist criminal within her ranks.

Assault is a criminal matter, any other employee in this country would be immediately taken to task by the Police.

At the campaign opening the other day, she loudly proclaimed
That is not loyalty. It is harbouring criminality... people who lashed out should not be protected...

I await her taking positive remedial action on this matter today, not awaiting the public reaction or giving favourable spin. Turning in her own criminal, who has freely admitted the assault and has a history of offering violence, might address the current position and stop any mixed messages.

'Ello! ' Ello! 'Ello!

What's going here then??? I just could not resist that!

Looks like Helen's, pure as the driven snow, handpicked poodle in charge of the Police is in for a bit of time on the mat.

Seems he hosted a dirty movie session in his abode in the 80's for the Police Club and is now denying he ever viewed the tacky illegal movie. Others seem very keen to say otherwise. This looks like another Strike 3, you're out for the constabulary.

The next few days will be very interesting, watching claims and counter-claims - it also seems an as yet unnamed Cabinet Minister may have also seen said movie. Seems heaps in the current government knew of the parallel cover ups and have been keeping their gobs well shut to date.
