Weather Warning: Herald lost
Wind warnings for Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa
Areas from Havelock North to Eketahuna are being warned of gusts of wind of up to 110km an hour this afternoon.
Eh? Last time I looked, Alf Grumble's hometown was in Tararua. About 10Km north of where Wairarapa ends.
Granny Herald's weather department is lost.

Tropical weather we're having
2.2 degrees outside. Plummeted 4 degrees in half an hour, still falling. Can't make it's mind whether to snow or hail here at 320m / 40S.
Think we're in for a cold afternoon.
Time to light the fire and maybe a nana nap whilst I ponder global warming and the like. Definitely snowing right now, but not settling. 1 minute later, now can see blue sky towards PN. Come on weather, make your mind up!
Update: 1315 - temperature rising again - lots of blue sky - looks like it was the back edge of a black front heading towards Wiberia on the Central Plateau.

Warmaloonies taking hold
Ten percent of Kiwis have joined the noo religion and think were doomed, shortly to disappear up our own fundamental.
In Oz, even worse, 20 percent are the newly converted.
Tree huggers, the lot of them, but the loonies are not giving up.
Yes, it is so bad, the opening line the other day of a god-botherer hawking his religion mid-morning on my doorstep, was a comment about the changeable weather being down to the impending doom of climate change. Great opener, but IMHO, the poor deluded chap is buggered on two fronts. Religion and climate change.

was a thin line between people thinking it was too late and not taking action. As a result of doom messages, they might think, "Why bother?"Yes, the warmaloonies should be concerned. As some real science gets out there from behind the Gorebull, the converted are seeing the light. It's all spin for a chance to make money."There is the alarming prospect of losing these people, which is something we need to be concerned about."
there was emotional intensity around environmental issues and many lies had been told over the years.
Tree huggers, the lot of them, but the loonies are not giving up.
Claims by climate change sceptics needed more scrutiny. There was a need to be "brutally blunt" about the naysayers whose claims were not peer-adjudicated

Storm? What storm?
Was up in the big smoke, although I for once didn't see any smog, the last few days attending to familial matters.
Saw some clips on the the telly bishun of the supposed storm and all the devastation that was being wreaked along Tamaki Drive in an easterly. Yes, salt water was shown getting onto the roads, not good for Beemers and Porsches heading for those exclusive eastern suburbs. And there were a few minor slips and broken trees.
Those that build on flood plains further north deserve everything they get when it rains and the tide comes into their lounge. The councils involved need to be sued for allowing these houses, but that is another story.
Where we were was bunkered down in a hollow in west suburbia and it wasn't that windy. In fact, quite sheltered, but as usual in Jafaland, sodding wet. The clag over the Manukau down to sea level, flat calm.
What passed was what I call 'active' weather for other parts south of the Bombay Line. You quickly learn that it can and does blow a bit. If it is not tied down, it will not be there tomorrow.
Get over yourselves, your sparkling waters are vulnerable in an easterly.
The rest of the country had a nice few days with some rain.

One more us, one less of them
Murray hammers home the advantage after sowing the seeds of discontent in a mis-guided lefty.
About a week old, but none the less, a classy result.
HT to Scrubone over at HalfDone
“Chemist”: I’ve discovered something! (Yep still there)
RWFB: No you’ve learned something. It was already discovered.
“Chemist”: Its turns out that CO2 levels are actually following temperature change not driving it…
RWFB: Shit. Who’d a thunk it. (You see the conservative delivers a dead pan response because his prey is already the walking dead and the game is all but over)
“Chemist”: But this is the opposite of what was in Al Gores film…
RWFB: The politician?
“Chemist”:… er yeah…. He … … …lied to us?

The drought breaker?
Here at 40S east of the Ruahines, the precipitation has just started at 1530, but is faltering.
Any is better than none, I can only hope we get at least 50mm over the next 48 hours.
The weather forecast looks promising for the first low to cross tonight, heading for the Chathams. Seems the second low off the West Coast will also cross afterwards.
Barely 50mm since Christmas is not good, although the grass here is still just green and needs mowing. Normally we get some that rain just sneaks over the hills, but we know when our lawn goes brown, the rest of NZ is deep in the muck.
Long may the drizzle continue.
Update: 0730 Sun 2nd - 12mm overnight, not a lot happening on rain radar
Update: 0730 Mon 3rd - Barely 8mm overnight, big high halfway up mainland. Not a drought breaker, nice to have tanks full.

10 Radical paths for warmists to take
Wired has 10 very radical, some say crazy, geo-engineering solutions to the supposed problem raised by global warming. Just wait till those rabid frogs see these and wag a few tails.
In no particular order,
I wonder how many of these we will see implemented in the next 5-10 years if we keep following the IPCC GoreBull Warmists down their path?
In no particular order,
- Vertical Framing - turn carparks / skyscrapers / walls into vertical farms.
- Better Cows - stop methane prodicing feeds, give the cows diabetes with high sugar feeds
- Carbon Scrubbers - 300m goalposts everywhere sucking CO2 out of the sky - think you have a problem with 70m pylons?
- Hurricane Control - throw in a bit of dust to slow/deflect storm - and you need some lawyers and spin doctors to risk-manage deflected storms
- Cloud Making Ships - puffy low clouds reflect sunlight - who needs ships? Connect hose for hot air directly to Beehive.
- Better Trees - get heavily into GM to up their CO2 capabilities.
- Ocean Fertilization - add heaps of nutrients to cause CO2 gobbling plankton blooms. Are we already doing that?
- Made Made Mt Pinutabo - drop a few nukes to produce a bit of sunlight stopping dust.
- Space Mirrors - we all really want to live in 24x7 darkness, right?
- Status Quo - stick your head in sand or in any other orifice of your choice.
I wonder how many of these we will see implemented in the next 5-10 years if we keep following the IPCC GoreBull Warmists down their path?

Rain in NSW
It is being reported that heavy thunderstorms are occurring in Western NSW after many years of drought.
The 50mm plus of rain is a good follow up to the lighter rain that fell a few weeks ago.
