After being funded by taxpayers to the tune of around $45K for a jolly at the five ringed circus, the self styled 'Queen' Bea has dragged herself into the gutter.
A senior member of the team and no doubt a role model for some aspiring atheletes, she has done herself, the team and NZ no favours after publicly tripping over her ego.
Offensive and galling. Confirms what is said about sore losers.
Hopefully she does not make future events and retires with much more grace.
ps: I know I wasn't going to post on the circus, but this really got up my nose.

Time for a name change?
The name of our fair country has evolved in the 366 years since Abel Tasman clapped his eyes on it. Firstly, Staten Landt, Nieuw Zeeland and finally New Zealand.
The isles upon which we reside in early days were never apparently known as one country, but as individually named parts.
Somewhere in between we were told by romanticists that the official pre-colonisation name was supposedly the Land of the long white cloud, or more commonly, Aotearoa. This, as discussed here, is a mere fiction, long overdue for removal from our lexicon.
Now that could upset some, romanticists and radicals have long used the name to define a point of difference. True romanticists are few and far between these days, so every time I see the word used, I know what is coming next - some supposedly hard done by needing a larger cut of my tax dollar has his hand out.
Like my passport says, this country has a name, it is New Zealand, nothing else.

Mrs Bouquet turns up at Why Cat O
Lindsay Mitchell rightly reports that some staff at Why Cat O uni are getting all precious over how plebs pronounce the name of the area. Initial report at Stuff here.
Get real - If Why Cat O is how the general populace have pronounced it for 150 years or longer, it must be right. After all, languages were not written, but verbal and common pronounciations reflect the phonetic sounds. Just because someone decides Mon Gere is the way to say the name of a possibly French suburb in JafaLand does not mean all should now pronounce Mangere that way.
Similarly, there are no places such as Tuppo, Te Ah Mahru, Oh Are Mahru, Fongarei or Fonaganui, particularly as some weathergirls force upon the populace at times. Parra Param is where the rattler used to stop and will always be so.
Also, since the well justified recent raids into alleged terrorist country, there seem to be a hell of lot New Zealanders openly forsaking their birth country for some fantasy land called Aotearoa. Nowhere on my New Zealand passport does it suggest that this land exists. There must be a law somewhere for persons that forsake their birth country.
Mrs Bouquet remains the ultimate reference on this academic madness wasting my tax dollars.

Another contagion blooms
Just like the plague, another so called Christian party has sprung into existence. I wonder if this one will get any more votes than the last. Anther Destiny re-incarnation by the looks of it.
Somehow God-botherers of a political nature touting for my vote do not do it for me. Politics and religion just do not gel properly. Public office and soul saving are mutually exclusive. Would be pollies have to sell their souls to get votes. Similarly, the Watchtower hawkers turning up on your doorstep of a weekend, all glowing and full of promise, when you least expect wanting you to buy your way in, do not get a look in.
Now, this person, should she ever form her own party of believers and if I was of a believing type, could bet on my vote. She has rock solid doggedness of sticking to her view of moral principles. Some regard her as a nutter, other quite make vicious comments, I admire her for sticking to her guns. She certainly would beat any so-called Christian party hands down.
