Rodney shot his bolt early

It appears from commentary today around the traps that Rodders may have been a bit premature signing up to confidence and supply quickly the other day. Got a sniff and it was all over.

Punters are not happy given that 4% of the vote went to Act they don't get a seat at the top trough. Others who had a minuscule percentage or a totally out of proportion result based purely on race have been offered a place to swill.

As I have said before, this is a good outcome. Roger is neutered and the separatist elements are quietened. Having both in play will kill any radical elements.

I suspect Rodders will be getting some overt advice from a certain quarter on his 'condition' and await the fallout. I fear that area will always be contentious and John Key is correct in trying to lessen the potential of any future Act disruptions. By Sunday we should know whether the offers to the other party also calms their pre-nuptial nerves.

Meanwhile the courtship continues.

'is this worth losing the election over?'

Danyl McLauchlan, a lefty, critically examines and sums up why there is not a left government this morning.

I’m bitter and self-rightous because I’ve had a number of arguments over the last three years with friends in the Greens and Labour about things like the EFA, supporting Winston ect and I’ve constantly asked the question: ‘is this worth losing the election over?’

The reply was always something along the lines of ‘hopefully it won’t come to that.’

Well, guess what?

I’m bitter and self-righteous because it was REALLY fucking obvious this was how things were going to play out.

Already often in the gutter, some have descended into the sewer offering their rose-tinted partisan opinion. See here and here.

Go and have a look a Danyl's full piece. It is worth reading and sums up the road to a change in NZ government.

Was it really worth getting smacked over by the EFA and the anti-smacking bill?

New Zealand needs to recognise our potential

We have the ability to make our lives bettter

NZ has so much potential.

I will lead a government that serves the interests of all New Zealanders.

And he looks so happy.

And his wife.

Bill and Ben to get their money back

0.52% at 98% of the party vote says that it was money well spent.

Well done Pulp Sport boys. I have a bar that you could spend $1000 on.

Libz and Roger?

For all the noise that Libz supporters have made in the blogosphere I wonder what it is all about. Legends in their own lunchtime. At 88% of the vote, 900 odd party votes out of a potential 3 million does not even register.

As for Roger possibly being in government, has somebody charged the ReSus machine? 360 Joules please.

Has NZ done enough?

The question of the day:

Has New Zealand done enough to get rid of the most corrupt government in our short history or do I need to dial 0800 Qantas?

Order in the Court!

"All rise, court is now in session.

The Chief Electoral Officer now presiding over the Court of Public Opinion".

And so another electoral cycle nears the finish line.

Get up off the couch and get out there and vote.

May the best man win.

UPDATE: Comment moderation is on due to NZ Electoral laws - you can still comment, but comments will not be made visible till after 1900 tomorrow

It's all about trust...

The Williams Effect

Named after the seismic shift in NZ politics so apparent after Mike William's muckraking tour of Melbourne last week.

With such a shift in effect, I can now vote with my heart.

1 tick for the Blue team.
1 tick for the Green team.

The order is not debatable, but don't panic on the green tick. It definitely won't be one for the tree hugging watermelons with their kiddie porn ads. And although it is a preferred second choice, it won't be Act as long as Roger is the mix. I really do like the sound of an underhang where such a vote could force a number of politicians out of a job along with all their attendant retinues. Go Bill and Ben.

HT WOBF

"Change to what is the issue"

Damned right. Never a truer word uttered by her indoors.
Change to what is the issue.

You never have a change in government without a substantial change in policy being the consequence.

Bring the change on.

A change from the ever elusive Winston leading us on a merry dance in contorted legalese on the head of a pin.

A change from a corrupt government that does not listen to the people.

A change from a desperate government that sprays election bribes to all and sundry in an effort to retain control with redistribution of my taxes.

A change from a government pandering to the welfarism and Maorimander of this country.

A change from a government squandering my taxes on bureaucracy.

A change from a government that is soft on law and order.

A change from the negative personal gutter politics.

Need I go on?

Yes, I look forward to positive change. And as this election is all about trust, I look forward to the change to a government that I can trust.

Electoral Commission confirms complaints filtered

In a last minute move, the Electoral Commission has confirmed it is actively filtering complaints.

Mr Hide said he did not know why the commission had taken so long to act, as the query was made in July.

A commission spokesman said the query did not go into its system when made in July and was picked up only when the complainant asked after it.

A complaint against Rodders in his canary suit was sidelined until the complainant asked where is the result. A slip up on their part.
The act requires "published election advertisements" to carry the authorisation of the party's financial agent - which Mr Hide's jacket does not.

While no complaints against Liarbour have been upheld, others against the Nats and Act have been actioned forthwith with negative outcomes. I wonder how many Liarbour ones have been sidelined through active filtering? Nothing to see here, move along!

Go figure. What else would be expected from an agency of the desperate and dateless Liarbour? Trust? I don't think so.

A free spirit on urban myths

Still peddling her line of trust me, her indoors was being questioned closely over nanny state marching in through the front door of your home during the TV3 debate tonight.

An urban myth the self-styled 'free spirit' remarked. Lets hope she is truly a free spirit come Sunday morning and does not enjoy the moral mandate to further redistribute her own brand of corrupt government.

And Campbell, you are a crap debate facilitator. Keep your mouth shut next time.

Election quiz result: Dancing With The Shrubs

I have done the quiz over at Pundits' shop a few times.

First attempt gave a suspected error in the results, ie to vote for Act. So I did it again a few days later, this time Liarbour was in the mix. Liarbour was not in the list in the early version and in the second attempt, was rightly confirmed to be at the bottom of my result. Good stuff I thought, I'll stick with the Blue team.

Both times unfortunately Act came to the top of the heap. Wrong result, Roger Douglas is not a person I want anywhere near my ideal government, thank you. Act has some eminently sensible ideas, Lindsay is on the ball with welfare. One has to ask why, apart from Rodders of DWTS fame, why do Actoids consistently poll so low? What is so wrong with their policies that Joe Voter does not get their message?

Anyway, today I see that Tane over at the Standard (long suspected to be a publicly funded Liarbour blog) has been and done the quiz. Some other lefties have done it also, all with really disturbing results. Like Tree Huggers in the high 80's.

I wondered how one could get such a result, so back over to Pundit's place and this time, with a feeling of absolute revulsion, I selected answers the exact opposite of what I might normally choose.

The result - a shrub hugger at a low 81%. To get such a result I had to select eternal welfarism, adopt environmental legislation from hell by nanny state and entertain socialists running my family day to day. And that is a poor result for those at the taxpayers' blog.

I felt sick to my core. Having such a world view is not right. Goverment in my book is about foreign policies, leadership, economy, promoting law and order, facilitating health and education via minimum taxes. It is certainly not nanny state, how to run my family, prescriptive education and expensive useless environmental legislation.

Get over to Pundit and have a go. Are you in the real world or dancing in the forest?

Valedictory speeches I never hope to hear

In these last days of Helengrad, one could be thankful that I will not have to endure such speeches from the likes of Helen, Michael and Winston.

Hoisted by their own petard, I wonder if they will cede graciously on Saturday?

King announces new toll free motorway

Major roading announcement within days - King

In a move that is not an election bribe, the Minister of Common Sense has announced that a new toll free 20 lane wide motorway from Cape Reinga to Bluff will be started on Nov 9th. A revolutionary new surfacing compound is to be utilised - taxpayer gold. The new motorway will be known as KiwiExpressway.

If only. Is it a full moon on this scary night?

"no such thing as compassionate conservatism"

Straight from the horses' mouth on Te News.

Obviously not the same compassion that sent Liarbour Prez Mikhail Williams on a
compassionate socialism mission to Oz recently?

Why is our Prime Minister lying?

In a Mike Williams initiated (insert Tui ad here) mere diversion from the real topic of a corrupt government, fundamental questions remain over the involvement of Liarbour and Winston First in the Consulgate corruption.

As time passes stories from either side, as is usually the case with lies, have become more divergent. One could argue an extreme desire to retain control.

In an election based on trust, "Why is our Prime Minister lying?". Why indeed is she being economical with the truth? What does Winston have over her other than a potential cohort in the next corrupt coalition of the unwilling?

Axis of Evil still has dry powder?

The constant references by various people of late to an upcoming 'neutron bomb' next week that will do away with National period is cause for some concern. Tumeke lives in hope. Even Winston voiced it more than once on the minnows debate earlier this week.
This is tired and is nothing compared to what is about to be released regarding National. If I were John Key, I’d be a lot more worried about what is about to drop than papers showing Winston pushed to see if Owen was acceptable for Monaco, my guess is that no one will be talking about Winston and Owen next week

One wonders what 'scandal' will be dredged from their sewer of dirty tricks. I suspect that voters will put anything dished at this late stage as 'losers vitriol' of a desperate dying cabal, confirming their negative campaign waged on trust has seriously backfired.

Helen can try to manipulate the puppets to inflict a fatal blow, but I believe whilst some may read changed votes into such a bomb, the ploy will backfire with the electorate seriously hardening against Helen's Axis of Evil.

Consulgate Timeline

Poor Owen Glenn has been stitched up here.

The scenario goes like this:

OG wants the Monaco job, gives $500k to Labour.

Labour gets back into power in 2005 and they say - well matey we’ve just had to give Winston the MOFA role, so it’s going to cost you another $100k to get the consul position.

H1 tells MW to organise it, seeing as how he is the money machine.

MW puts OG in touch with WP and BH.

OG pays over $100k to Winston and thinks the consulship is in the bag.

Winnie lobbies the officials who say there’s no reason to appoint him (under instructions from H1).

The MOFA advise that their advice is not to appoint a consul.

WP rings OG and says - sorry matey, it’s not a goer.

OG realises he’s been stitched up and starts releasing documents to the media.

H1 calls him aside at the opening of the OG building and OG tells her she ain’t seen nothing yet.

Documents start being leaked to the msm who fumble the ball because H1 tells them there’s no story, nothing to see here.

MSM realise (six months later) that H1 has been conning them, begin to spill.

The whole affair becomes big news - about a year after it should, but right before the election.

Nov 9th - OG rings H1 to tell her that she shouldn’t have fucked with the big boys.

2009 - National reveals an anonymous donation of $1m from a newly formed trust.

from NeilR comment over at KB

Consulgate worries for PM

The Prime Minister was so concerned about Winston Peters' lobbying for Owen Glenn to become honorary consul to Monaco

Like I believe that. She (and Winston First) still expects us to believe that after receiving $500K ($100K) in 2005, this was not the final instalment of the 'you scratch my back'. The only thing Miss Teflon Clark was and is worried about is retaining tight control to get re-elected.

I firmly believe this is a cash for consulship scandal and nothing will sway me. As for the lying Winston I can only hope this crook is Parliamentary history. I could never expect the current government to actually have some integrity, not only to ditch him, but to fully prosecute him as they are donkey-deep in this scandal.

But then, this election is all about trust, not integrity.
